The spine is the key to a healthy functioning
nervous system. Every cell in our body is
controlled by our nervous system and it is
protected by the 24 bones of the spine. These
bones move when we move. When the spine does not
move properly the nerves do not function 100%
and friction can build up and can cause the
decay we call arthritis. After a severe amount
of decay the joints can become painful, and this
usually happens when the joints are almost
destroyed. |

Chiropractic (pronounced KI-ro-PRAK-tic) is
based on the philosophy that the relationship
between structure and function in the human body
is a significant health factor. The
relationships between the spinal column
structure and the nervous system functions are
the most significant. |

The Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) is a primary
care, initial contact physician. The
chiropractic physician bases treatment upon a
foundation of diagnostic information gathered
through physical examination, patient history,
clinical laboratory results (blood chemistries,
urinalysis, etc.), diagnostic imaging (X-rays,
MRIs, etc.), and other diagnostic measures in
addition to evaluations unique to chiropractic. |

Following development of a diagnostic
impression, the chiropractic physician may care
for the patient through the application of
spinal and extra vertebral manipulations. Care
may also include nutritional counseling,
physiological therapeutics, acupuncture, trigger
point therapy, lifestyle counseling, emotional
support, stress management and other related
therapies. |
